The Austin Healey brand was founded by Donald Healey in 1952.
In addition to the roadsters for road traffic, vehicles for circuit racing were also produced and used very successfully internationally, e.g. in Le Mans and Sebring. The Austin Healey 3000 achieved by far its greatest success in rallying from the early 1960s. Well-known drivers such as Pat Moss, Ann Wisdom, John Gott, Peter Riley and Rauno Aaltonen won numerous rallies, the most famous being the Coupe des Alpes (1958 to 1964) and the Liège-Rome-Liège Rally (1960, 1961).
This early Austin Healey 3000 MK II from 1961 was built by the specialist Stefan Sautter (Sautter Historic Racing) with an all-aluminum body in accordance with FIA Appendix K and optimized for performance.
