Porsche 911 SC 3.0
The year is 1977 and the 911 now had its own sports car competition with the 924 and 928. For this reason they wanted to streamline the model range and from now on there were only the 911 SC and the upgraded 911 Turbo. Porsche toyed with the idea of slowly phasing out the Porsche 911.
The 911 continued to be the driving force in the Porsche model range. Porsche derived the model designation “SC”, meaning Super Carrera, from the meaning “Super” of the predecessor 911 S and the 3.0 Carrera.
Like its predecessor, the 911 Carrera, the Porsche 911 SC engine still has a displacement of three liters, but its output has been reduced by 10 percent, while the torque has been increased slightly. The SC delivers 180 hp at 5500 rpm and the top speed is 225 km / h.
Like its predecessor, the 911 S, the engine has the tried and tested mechanical K-Jetronic injection system from Bosch.
The early SC models from 1978 were still available with chrome-plated window frames and door handles. Then these parts were anodized black and the outer headlight rings were painted in the same color as the car.
From today’s perspective, the Porsche 911 SC is an interesting classic and leaves an extremely balanced impression compared to other G models. The high-torque three-liter engine and the durability combined with the improved handling due to the lush tires guarantee a 911 feeling in its purest form.
The vehicle we are offering is a Porsche 911 SC 3.0 from 1978 in the beautiful and rare color combination „Silver Metallic“ with interior in the color „Hummer“. The interior is completely original and untouched, but still in a very nice condition with no noticeable signs of wear. The body has also been restored, the vehicle only received a new top coat five years ago, but the inner bars are also untouched. The vehicle has also been rust-free since delivery.
The special highlight of this beautiful 911 are the original black 16-inch Fuchs rims. The vehicle also has an electric sunroof, electric exterior mirrors, green colored glass, windshield with green wedge, fire extinguisher and cigarette lighter. The radio was replaced by a more modern one, but the original BECKER radio is still available and enclosed.
To the history:
The Porsche was delivered on January 9, 1978 by Porsche Joe Heishman in Arlington, Virginia to Sport’s 4U, who after a short time sold the vehicle to the second owner, Michael J. Monaco, who looked after his vehicle for 35 years.
In 2013 the vehicle was sold in the EU and the current German owner only had the top coat renewed. He also had the miles speedometer with 105,000 miles replaced by a German KM speedometer that started at 0km. In the course of this, the 911 received a complete and uncompromising engine overhaul including Bosch Jetronic system for costs of almost € 25,000; carried out by a Porsche specialist workshop, which means that the engine is to be regarded as „as new“.
All fuel receipts since the engine overhaul were collected by the owner and the mileage was noted.
The original on-board folder with checkbook, color card and brochure are available, as are all the invoices for engine overhauls and other repairs. The HU was redone in February 2020, as was an H mark.
